The law in this country states that any person who is disabled or has a long term illness can claim VAT exemption on products that are designed or adapted to aid personal or domestic use. You don’t need to be a registered disabled person or eligible for any other benefit to qualify for VAT Exemption.
Disabled people can claim VAT exemption on installations, repairs, maintenance, products that have been designed solely for disabled people, spare parts and accessories. Products such as disabled wheelchairs, stair lifts, disabled bathrooms, ramps, widening doors, braille support aids are just a few of the examples this applies to. The VAT exemption does not apply to elderly people or people with a temporarily illnesses or broken limbs.
